Originally from Carson City, Nevada, I’ve lived in & around San Jose, California for over 30 years. Wife Joni & I will be married 32 years this July and have three adult children. I work as the Operations Manager in the family trucking and material supply company. We almost always had at least one airplane when I was growing up. Both parents were accomplished pilots. Dad was a CPT instructor during WWII, and remained an active commercial pilot throughout most of his life. Mom was a WASP (Women Airforce Service Pilots) during WWII, flying B-25s, Lockheed Vega, SBD Dauntless, and many more types. Though I flew recreationally with my parents, the bug really didn’t bite until they had both passed, and it hit me how much I missed flying. I now have several hundred hours in mostly tailwheel aircraft, most recently completing an aerobatics course. The desire to race IF1 at Reno took hold in 1998 when at the races I met Five-time Space Shuttle Pilot, Unlimited Air Racing Champion, and former IF1 racer, Robert “Hoot” Gibson. A true ambassador of the sport, he spent more than an hour with me as a newbie spectator, and let me tell you, he really set the hook! I haven’t missed a year since. It took a bit of time, but I am both excited and honored to be fortunate enough to participate in this awesome sport that we all love soo much. Please come by our pit in September and introduce yourself. I look forward to meeting you.
